Wide Awake

Monday, November 21, 2016

If you read any of my posts from three years ago, you might already know my sleeping patterns I have been trying to fight. Guess what time it is?! It's 4:00am in the morning! Katelyn, my sweet friend, seems to not be as phased with the time change as I am. I think it is about 11:00am on Friday your time right now. I have been staying awake, wide awake until 11:00 or 12:00 at night here, and then waking up four hours later. But during the day, Katelyn and I crash about three times a day. Some days we feel like we could fall asleep standing. Then a weird second wind comes over us and we are ready for the next adventure.

Yesterday, we woke up and planned on going to the Korean National Museum. We both made a list of things we wanted to do, but made the mistake of not writing the directions down beforehand. We asked the front desk for directions and then we headed out. The lady at the front desk told  us to take the subway down to City Hall and take exit 8 or 9. Then we thought we were being so savvy by asking how far away it was from the exit. She said fifteen minutes. So off we went, so confident that we'd get there. As soon as we exited, we had no idea where to go. We asked a nice lady who walked us to a palace.  It wasn't the place we were looking for so we walked around the perimeter and ended up going to Insadong instead. We went to a restaurant that I went to with my brother and sister in law four or five years ago. The same one I went with Reagan. Now Katelyn is here with me. So if you want some really good bulgogi (Korean marinated beef) I can confidently take you there!

After eating lunch/breakfast we went to the Hyundai Outlet Mall. There we met Soo, Jenna, and Yuna. They are the family friends Reagan and I stayed with last time we were here. I was so excited to see them! Jenna is 11 and Yuna is 6 now! We ate even more food with them and bought some face lotions. Soo ended up getting us amazing deals. I bought one thing and they gave me crazy amounts of samples. Same with Katelyn. It is normal to get samples, but I feel like we ripped them off some how.

After a while the girls were tired, so Kate and I took a taxi up to Namsan Tower. It was a beautiful night. We are going to check out of the Ramada today, and check into the Somerset Palace hotel near one of the biggest palaces.

We love and miss you all!
